Hello there. My name is Ursula Rice.I’m here today to tell you about the single solicitor service.
This is a way of using a lawyer where you have one lawyer, two parties, In our firm, what usually happens is one of you has found out about us on the internet.
We have a whole webpage devoted to the single solicitor service, and you’ve decided you would like to come and find out about it. So you ring up, make an appointment, and you will tell one of us, often me, sometimes one of my colleagues, about the reasons you’re splitting up and what you would like to achieve. What you won’t get in that interview is legal advice. You will, however, have an exploration about how toxic your relationship is, how difficult you think it would be to sort things out. What do you have disagreements on? What are the problems that are preventing you from amicably resolving your dispute? Subject to me or my colleagues thinking it’s suitable, we will then see the other person to have a similar conversation. And those two conversations are on your own, you don’t do them jointly.
If you’re accepted by our firm for the single solicitor service, we will then let you know and sign you up. Every meeting you have after that is joint.
What are the advantages to having a single solicitor service?
Very obviously, one lawyer really, really changes your costs. You’re much more likely to save costs, and that includes quite complex things. For example, needing to get a pension report or perhaps a business valued. That doesn’t matter. A single solicitor can do that, but obviously you have to pay for those experts.
It usually takes far less time and that’s simply because there’s less misunderstandings and there’s at least one loop that’s been cut out because you have one lawyer and you’re both in all of the meetings. So everybody goes away from those meetings understanding what their jobs are and what needs to happen next.
It is probably going to save you sixty to seventy percent of your costs, in my view.
So it’s really worth exploring, even if not everything is eye to eye between you and your ex. It’s hard work. No two ways about it. A bit like mediation, you’ve got to sit in the same room or on the same team’s call with your solicitor, and sometimes you won’t like the advice that you’re given. But that’s lawyering for you. It’s quite hard work on the solicitor too. Very, very intense meetings. And so long as there’s a measure of agreement between you, even if you don’t agree on everything, it’s likely to be suitable for you. You know what? You don’t just need to do finances through the single solicitor service. You can also talk about your children too.
So if you’re interested and you would like to find out more, either go to our website, alternatively, give us a call and we will help you set up an appointment.
At the time of making this video, each of those appointments is one hundred and twenty pounds plus VAT.
Thanks for listening. Let me know if we can help.
