Varinder is a Senior Associate Solicitor and family law specialist with 21 years’ experience working in family law. Her practice covers private family work, with particular experience in children, domestic abuse and complex or high-conflict cases, alongside substantial experience in financial remedy, divorce and separation. She also advises on pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
Varinder has extensive experience dealing with complex children matters, including relocation, parental alienation and cases involving coercive control, as well as financial remedy cases involving both high-net-worth and needs-based circumstances. She has experience of negotiating settlements and managing contested proceedings, always with a focus on achieving the best possible outcome for her clients.
She has worked across private practice, law centres and Citizens Advice, giving her experience of working with clients from very different backgrounds and in a wide range of circumstances. This breadth of experience has given Varinder a strong understanding of the different challenges clients can face when dealing with family law issues, and the importance of providing advice that is both legally sound and practical.
Varinder has also completed Resolution’s family mediation training, giving her a strong understanding of the mediation process and the skills and principles that underpin effective dispute resolution. She has also gained experience in couple-focused family law services, developing an understanding of how both parties can be supported to work towards a mutually acceptable outcome. These experiences complement her wider family law practice and have strengthened her skills in constructive communication, negotiation and dispute resolution, while enabling her to consider whether a more collaborative or less adversarial approach may be appropriate in a particular case.
Alongside her casework, Varinder has developed a strong interest in supervision, mentoring and legal education. She has led and supervised a team of more than 30 advisers and caseworkers, supported junior lawyers and students, and worked nationally as a family law expert producing legal guidance and learning resources for advisers across England and Wales. She was also selected for the Open University’s Associate Lecturer appointable list.
Varinder is known for her calm, approachable and straightforward manner. She understands that family law disputes can be extremely difficult and personal for those involved, and believes that good family law requires more than simply understanding the legal position. It also requires an appreciation of each client’s individual circumstances and the wider issues affecting their family.

Her approach is to provide clear, realistic and practical advice, helping clients understand their options and make informed decisions. She believes in thinking creatively about possible solutions and taking a holistic approach to each case, whether that means negotiating an agreement or representing a client through contested proceedings.
Varinder is particularly interested in complex family work and improving the way legal services are delivered.
