Shuaib Baig is an Assistant Solicitor at Family First. He joined the firm’s family law team after around five years’ experience as a solicitor in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
Shuaib graduated from the University of Essex in 2015 with a 2:1 in Law and Politics. In 2016, he completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law with a Merit. He trained and qualified at a national law firm and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in November 2021. He has since practised at several leading national and regional firms, working on a broad range of contentious matters. These include complex commercial disputes, property disputes, debt recovery, insolvency and housing disrepair claims.
Throughout his career, Shuaib has handled complex and high-value disputes, often involving large volumes of documentary evidence, competing factual accounts and multiple parties. His experience covers litigation strategy, preparing witness evidence, preparing for and attending hearings, negotiation, mediation, settlement and enforcement. He has also worked closely with Counsel and experts.
Shuaib understands that disputes are often stressful and emotionally demanding for the people involved. He has generally taken a conciliatory approach to resolving disputes and enjoys working with clients to understand their objectives and find practical solutions. He also recognises that not every matter can be resolved by agreement and is used to representing clients firmly and effectively through court proceedings when required.
Before working in law, Shuaib worked in asset management in the City, assisting investment managers with client portfolios. During this time, he passed Unit 1 of the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) with the CFA Institute. He also trained as a mortgage adviser, gaining the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) with a Commendation from the London Institute of Banking and Finance, and advised his own clients on investment strategy and mortgage products. This gives Shuaib a practical understanding of investments, property and borrowing, which often sit at the centre of financial matters on separation.

Shuaib is now moving from commercial litigation into family law and is looking forward to bringing his experience into this area and developing his practice. He handles sensitive and often highly contentious disputes and brings a considered approach to negotiation and client communication. Together, these give him a strong foundation for his family law practice. In October 2025, he completed a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CPCAB), reflecting his commitment to supporting clients through what is often one of the most difficult times in their lives.
